BRISBANE ANZAC DAY PARADE 2012

This morning, Brisbane got ready for its 97th Anniversary (since 1915)
under the direction of the Anzac Day Combined Parade Committee
and supported by the Returned & Services League of Australia (QLD)

Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, originally commemorated by both countries on 25 April every year to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in the Ottoman Empire during World War I.
It now more broadly commemorates all those who served and died in military operations for their countries.

The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) was a First World War army corps of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force that was formed in Egypt in 1915 and operated during the Battle of Gallipoli.
General William Birdwood commanded the corps, which comprised troops from the First Australian Imperial Force and 1st New Zealand Expeditionary Force. The corps was disbanded in 1916 following the Allied evacuation of the Gallipoli peninsula and the formation of I Anzac Corps and II Anzac Corps.


The Anzac spirit or Anzac legend is a concept which suggests that Australian and New Zealand soldiers possess shared characteristics, specifically the qualities those soldiers are believed to have shown on the battlefield in World War I.
These qualities cluster around several ideas, including endurance, courage, ingenuity, good humour, larrikinism, and mateship. According to this concept, the soldiers are perceived to have been innocent and fit, stoical and laconic, irreverent in the face of authority, naturally egalitarian and disdainful of British class differences.

Brisbane International Student Ambassadors 2012
are on our way to Gold Coast to learn surfing!
In Singapore, we do not have waves big enough for surfing
however I've tried skimming at Siloso beach
So this will be a really great experience!

The girls changed into their rashies to protect themselves
from wax-based chafting, UV radiation, jelly fish sting
(and to a certain extent - perverts)



While the girls are busy camwhoring, the guys have been ready like 24,282,487,598,475 years ago

Now let's head on to The Spit (beach)
Adults generally use 9-10ft longboards while kids use 8-9ft ones
